This meeting will be a FREE FOR ALL!!! That’s right; A FREE FOR ALL!!! What the heck do I mean by that? Come and find out. It will be linked to our speaker’s subject for the night. And it is something our great webmaster, John Goliash, put together for a door prize. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS ONE!!!

Did I spike your interest? So who is our speaker and what is the subject? Well our speaker is our very own club officer Neil Roach. His subject will be FREE SOFTWARE available on the internet which is REALLY, REALLY GOOD!!! Did you ever hear of GIMP, the free program with open source code which gives the $650 Adobe Photoshop a run for its money? Or how about OpenOffice, the free, open source code program which some have called the Microsoft Office killer. Yes, it does it all! These are just a few of the programs that Neil hopes to cover. It’s a B I G S U B J E C T to cover for there is just soooooo much out there which is good and FREE. Did I mention special door prize? So come on out with a friend and hear Neil talk on a subject you won’t want to miss.

The next meeting will be this Monday night, February 11th, at 7:00 pm at the Witherspoon Buildinglocated at 499 Route 70 East, Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Doors open at 6:30pm. Directions can be found at

Last month I had reported
on a FREE defragmentation program for your hard drive call Power Defragmenter GUI (
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/Power-Defragmenter.shtml). Well, this month I
have another FREE defragmentation program for Windows XP and Vista.
This one is called Auslogics Disk Defrag, free version: 1.4. It is small,
fast, and easy to use, just like a defrag program should be. It can be
found at:

http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag

While there check out the Auslogics retail software which is really, really great!

Our webmaster John has reset all the web members password log-ins for those who haven’t been to the site in a while, or don’t know how to get on. John placed a video on how to change your password on our web site at:

http://www.pcugsj.org/how-change-password

Check it out.

John has also requested input from the club members on which direction to take the web site. As you know, for the past six months or more I’ve been telling everyone how this is the year we where revamping the club and web site. You have seen better door prizes and raffle prizes, along with more subjects from different speakers and the super web site. Well, before the next meeting, John would like you to be thinking about some of the following as to put on the web site or not:

  • advertise where there is free internet access,
  • we have experts that can help you, if you bring your computer in.
  • a promotion page where members can download information
  • should we have more videos (public videos?), do you want to participate and be
interviewed on how our club has helped you.
  • should we have pictures of the clubs activities on the website
  • Should we have a referral program where you host something on your site, myspace,
facebook, whatever and tell people to come to our website
  • should we have the current weather on the website?
  • should we find special deals offered only to the club members internal website
  • should we have a book page where we can get amazon.com referral money, does anyone want to take on that responsibility of running this program
  • does anyone want to see the video of Scott Lopert talk about windows vista?
  • would you want to read Larry Horns entry about the clubs history?
  • should we have links to other websites? what should they be?

We will be asking for your input at this week’s meeting. Please think about this.

We are also still looking for some help with new SIG’s, the club news letter, and club promotions. George Zitzler and I will be holding a promotion in conjunction with Borders Bookstore sometime in the near future. We will be doing a live Photoshop, photography demo, along with answering store customers questions, while directing them to the best books for their needs. This will be a CLUB PROMOTIONAL EVENT. We will keep you posted about the event. This is the first in a series we hope to do around the area.

Hope to see you ALL at the next meeting. I did mention it will be a FREE FOR ALL with special
door prize, didn’t I? Thought so!

Scott Lopert, 1st Vice President, Photoshop SIG Leader
